SUNDAY, JULY 18
Students
Arrival at Venice International Airport (Tessera) and at Padua Railway Station; first contact with the guide; transportation to the students residences in Padua.
12:00 - 14:00 Lunch at "Marzolo" canteen.
Free time Padua orientation for early arrivals.
18:00 - 20:00 Dinner at "Marzolo" canteen.
20:30 - 22:30 All together in the "Rostagni" Room at the Department of Physics: prof. Oreste Tommasi from National Institute for Matter Physics will present Edumat.
Leaders
Arrival at Venice International Airport (Tessera) and at Padua Railway Station; transportation to the leaders' residence "Copernico" in Padua.
12:00 - 14:00 Lunch at "Marzolo" canteen.
17:00 - 21:00 Installation and test of text editor. Shuttles will leave from the residence to the "Severi" Technical School each hour.
18:00 - 20:00 Dinner at "Marzolo" canteen.
 

The XXX IPhO Office is open all day at the leaders' residences.
 

MONDAY, JULY 19
Students
7:30 - 8:30 Breakfast at the residences.
8:45 - 9:00 Departure by bus for the Verdi Theatre.
9:30 - 12:00 Opening Ceremony in the Verdi Theatre. Students are to assemble in preparation for the Opening Ceremony.
12:15 - 12:30 Buses to the "Piovego" canteen.
12:45 - 14:00 Lunch; return to the Students’ Residences.
16:00 - 18:30 Guided tours of Padua for groups.
18:30 - 20:30 Dinner at "Piovego" canteen.
21:00 Quiet evening at the residences.

8:45 - 9:00 Departure by bus for the Verdi Theatre.
9:30 - 12:00 Opening Ceremony in the Verdi Theatre. Please be seated by 9:15.
12:30 - 13:30 Reception by the Mayor of Padua at "Moroni" Palace.
13:45 - 14:00 Departure by bus for the residences.
15:00 - 19:00 Discussion of the experimental exam in the "Rostagni Room" of the Physics Building.
19:15 - 20:15 Dinner at "Marzolo" Canteen.
20:30 Meeting continues. Transport by bus to the "Severi" Technical School.
Translation of the experimental problems.
Transport to the residence by shuttle bus from about midnight to 5:00.
Refreshments will be served during the translation session.
 

TUESDAY, JULY 20

7:15 Departure by bus for the Polo Didattico in Venezia St.
8:00 - 13:00 Practical exam. Refreshments will be served during the examination.
13:15 - 14:30 Lunch at "Piovego" canteen.
14:40 - 18:30 Students’ Group "Io": visit to the Legnaro National Laboratories.
14:40 - 18:30 Students’ Group "Ganymede": visit to the Villa Pisani in Stra.
19:00 - 20:00 Dinner at "Piovego" canteen.
Student Groups "Europa" and "Callisto"
7:30 - 8:30 Breakfast at the residences.
9:00 - 14:30 Students’ Group "Europa": visit to the Legnaro National Laboratories. Lunch at the Laboratories canteen.
9:00 - 13:00 Students’ Group "Callisto": visit to the Villa Pisani in Stra.
13:15 - 14:15 Students’ Group "Callisto": lunch at the "Marzolo" canteen. Buses depart for the Polo Didattico.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 21

9:30 Buses depart for day trip.
10:00 - 18:30 Visit to the Marca Trevigiana landscapes and arts around Asolo, Castelfranco, Mirano, Noale, Possagno, Treviso. Meeting with Italian students at the Liceo Majorana of Mirano.
19:00 - 20:00 Dinner at the "Piovego" canteen.
20:30 Quiet evening at the residences.

8:00 - 10:00 Leaders present their marking of the students’ papers from the experimental exam before 10:00.
10:00 - 12:00 Free time in order to visit Padua: museum entrance is free for those taking part in the XXX IPhO (Palazzo della Ragione, Museo degli Eremitani, Museo del Santo, Cappella degli Scrovegni).
12:00 - 14:00 Lunch at "Marzolo" canteen.
15:00 - 19:00 Discussion of the Theoretical exam: Physics Department of Padua University, "Rostagni" Room.
19:15 - 20:15 Dinner at the "Marzolo" canteen.
20:30 Meeting continues. Buses depart for the translation of the theoretical problems in the "Severi" Technical School.
Transport to the residence by shuttle bus from about midnight to 5:00.
Refreshments will be served during the translation session.
 

THURSDAY, JULY 22

21:00 - 23:00 Lecture and demonstrations at the "Antonianum" residence hall: Centre for Computerized Music, University of Padua.

GUIDED TOURS

The guided tours include:

  1. visits to historical sites in Padua;
  2. scientific exhibits at the "Cattedrale Vecchio Macello", organized by the Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica della Materia, the University of Trento, the University of Udine, the Laboratorio dell’Immaginario Scientifico and by Elitalia-Pasco;
  3. the Physics’ Museum of Historical Instruments;
  4. the "Specola" dated the 18th century;
  5. Padua University’s Botanical Gardens;
  6. the "Palazzo della Ragione" and the Moon Exhibitions;
  7. the "Bo" with its 17th century Anatpmical Theatre and Galileo’s desk.
  8. Giotto’s frescos at the Scrovegni Chapel;
  9. demonstrations of physics experiments with on line data acquisition.
