It is possible to test DSP cards from
zbmuon. The ZEUS DAQ has to be stopped
(like when there are no beams in HERA).
First Log on
zbmuon.desy.de.
Then type the following commands:
$ home
$ bmuon
BMUON> exec test_dsp
After this, the program will ask you for the crate and the number
of DSP to test
(HERE
is the conversion table between Chamber number/type and
Crate/DSP)
and then execute a bunch of tests.
If the DSP is working correctly you should have this kind of output:
for the first three steps, the kumac should print a matrix of 256 numbers, from 0 to 255, like here ;
then the kumac should give some commands to the DSP, so that some lights should flash. This feature could be particularly useful, you can for example use the command
cntrl 16
in order to switch on a light to identify the DSP;
the DSP will be booted;
some values will be set, threshold , atest , timereg and the trigger switch will be activated; you should have this kind of output:
Value returned back: 60 3CX
Value returned back: 100 64X
Value returned back: 149 95X
after bus integrity , star gain memory and fifo checks, the kumac will calculate the pedestals;
the mask register will be checked; you should have an output similar to this ;
the kumac will do some conversion test . Check the correct output here ;
the Dispatcher bus will be tested, first you should have all outputs equal to 0, then to 10;
finally, the FLT bits will be tested. A correct ouput is here .
