Opportunities for industry
Strong collaboration with industry has always been a fundamental aspect of the research activity conducted by INFN.
Industrial supplies are the first area in which this collaboration takes place, sometimes with the aim of developing innovative prototypes and components that require companies to participate – already in the research and development phase of projects – in the implementation of new technological solutions and methods for production.
In the context of technology transfer activities, the interaction with the industrial world becomes even stronger, whether it involves developing applications derived from basic research up to the possible commercial outcomes, or whether it involves putting the institute’s laboratories with their skills and competences at disposal for developments requested directly by the companies.
For this kind of activities, INFN has both a central office and local representatives in every site.
For more information about the Technology Transfer in the Padova Division, please contact the local coordinator (RLTT):
The Padova Division hosts the office of the Industrial Liaison Officer for CERN (ILO). It was founded by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, University and Research, jointly with the INFN, with the purpose of promoting and stimulating the partecipation of Italian companies in CERN tenders for the acquisition of goods and services, and to support the Laboratory to find the most suitable suppliers for its needs.

INFN also participates in SMACT, one of the 8 highly specialized Industry 4.0 Competence Centers, founded in Italy by the Ministry of Economic Development. SMACT is a public-private institution that puts in touch the skills in the 4.0 field of Research, technology providers and early adopter companies.
